Finally! Scholarship details are settled!
The deets:
We are blessed with 4 wonderful sponsors who are helping us make this trip happen!
1. Nuveen Scholarhip: This requires an application form, a reference form to be filled out by a faculty memner, a CV, a statement of goals, an official transcript (make sure to request this atleast 2 weeks in advance), and a submission of hte current Student Aid Report to determine financial need. We can get up to $500!
2. Henry Schein: This requires you to go to Tanzania, know Dr. Evans, (hope he's heading the program), and some luck that the Henry Schein folk are in a giving mood. We can get up to $500!
3. Guate Scholarship: We were reimbursed what the guate kids payed for flight. Requirements: be nice to Khatijah and pray to be lucky. We can get upto $500!
4. Mid Winter Meeting: Yes, you work to earn this one, but this year its worth around $300! Make sure you sign up early!
5. HPSC travel grant: for those of you starting rotations -- you can get money every quarter! Up to 200-300$! Filling out this application is a doozy. Good luck.
All in All: You can score an cool 2000$. Hollah! Thank you UICCOD!

Once we have our Safari stuff planned I shall update.
NEXT on the TODO list:
1. Immunization -- plan early...they will try to reschedule on u (aroudn 2 mos to go)
2. Visa: plan at 1.5 mos to go
Things to buy
1.) Mosquito net ***
2.) DEET- deep woods OFF***
3.) Adapter (converts 3 prong to 2 prong) and converter ***
4.) Extra Battery safari ( or 2 cameras)
5.) immunization-
6.) Visa-email and link. Mid- February send off
7.) Zanzibar clothing- 1 piece swimsuit, longer shirts/skirts, thin cotton (it's muslim, be respectful and conservative)
8.) Water friendly shoes
9.) Flashlight ***
10.) Loose/light clothings
11.) Handheld battery powered fan
12) Bottled water?
13.) Beans/oatmeal
